Allow us to Introduce you to our Team
Directors: Brian & Clarissa Krahn
We are Brian and Clarissa Krahn. We are from Winkler, Manitoba but are currently living in Guaymas Sonora, Mexico. God has gifted us with 3 children. Cole, Mason and Leah. Clarissa and I were married in 2001. We are members of the Winkler Mennonite Brethern Church in Winkler. We had all the comforts that are expected in our Canadian Culture but for a long time I wrestled with being content. I searched and struggled to find contentment in my life but I never seemed to find it. It took me a long time to realize that what I was looking for couldn’t be found in the places I was looking. I was trying to fill my life with “stuff” but the truth of the matter was that it was not working. What I came to realize is that I had confused contentment with finding a purpose. The emptiness I felt was not from a lack of material items, it was a lack of God in my life. How could that be? I knew I was that I was a Christian having accepted The Lord a long time ago. If the Holy Spirit is alive in me, why do I feel so.........uncomfortable?, so empty??? Well, to make a long story short, God showed me a verse written by Paul that is found in Romans. Paul writes to the believers in the church and offers this invitation; “Therefore I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.” God helped me to understand this verse, and it all made sense. Paul urged the Christians of that Church to surrender their lives to the Lord as a living sacrifice. Living for Christ on earth but dead to all of our own dreams, desires and ambitions. I thought the deal was complete after I had accepted Christ as my savior, which I had done. God saved me and the Holy Spirit moved inside of me. But God also brings us to a point in our lives where we can choose to surrender our lives to him. After giving the Lord all of my dreams, desires and ambitions God opened the door for us and moved us to Mexico.
Our journey in full-time ministry began in 2010 after God gave both Clarissa and I a conviction to work with Children living in difficult situations. After a number of years in prayer and discernment God lead our family to the community of San Carlos, a small snowbird community outside of the city of Guaymas. For 18 months we worked with a small feeding program for children in the city of Guaymas that was run by a Pastor’s wife. There we helped her look after the physical needs of the Children as well as their spiritual needs. This family taught us how to live out our conviction of being living sacrifices to Jesus. Through this time God had a bigger plan and purpose for our lives. He placed on our hearts a desire to start an Orphanage here in Mexico, a place that would care for orphaned and abandoned children. Almost 2 years after first arriving in Mexico “Ancla de Amor” (Anchor of Love) was born. We are excited for the future and the work that God has called us to do. I can tell you with complete peace that we are in the center of God’s hands and there is no longer a void in my life that needs to be filled. Ancla de Amor will be a place where Children can come to be loved on, educated and raised up, but most importantly, through the work of the Holy Spirit, they can come to know their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. My prayer is that someday we will have an army of “Living Sacrifices” for the Lord. Thank you for taking the time to read our story. May God’s work in our lives be a blessing to you and your family.
Cristian & Belen
Cristian & Belen fill many roles at Ancla. Both are vital to our success. They are both involved in administrative responsibilities and also has a mentorship roll with our children.
Through child mentorship Cristian and Belen have had success in opening up the hearts of our children and helping them through their hurts and struggles. What a blessing!
Ancla saw the tremendous potential in this couple and has decided to enrol Cristian into University. He currently studies Law.
It is because of sacrificial living from people like this that Ancla can offer the level of care to our children that they deserve!
We are blessed to have Marilyn join our team. She loves the Lord, loves to cook and has a heart for Christian ministry. Marilyn lives in San Carlos and we have known her for several years. We are so glad to have her join us as our full time cook. She has ample experience cooking for a large number of people but she does not limit herself to the kitchen. She happily pitches in with child care and other responsibilities as needed. What a blessing to have her join our ministry here at Ancla!
Our House Parents, Javier and Rebeca, come with lots of experience and lots of love for the children here at Ancla de Amor. They come with four of their own children as well, Rebeca, Tania, Daniela and Javier. We cannot thank them enough for all that they do. They are a true answer to our prayers and they give us so much peace because we know our kids are loved and well-cared for. The children warmed up to them so quickly so we feel very blessed to have this wonderful Christian family join our team!
